2020 Bowling Tournament
Although unable to host a traditional 2020 State Bowling Tournament due to COVID-19, Special Olympics Minnesota is excited to pivot and offer an out of the box solution for our Athletes, Unified Partners, coaches and volunteers to participate in a new type of Bowling Competition! Bowling is the most popular sport within SOMN with over 3600 Athletes, 700 Unified Partners, 1100 coaches and thousands of fans and volunteers participating in a typical season. Special Olympics Minnesota will engage all of these audiences through a non traditional 2020 Bowling Tournament.
Options for event execution will scale dependent on bowling alley openings, Special Olympics Return to Play guidelines, and state mandates. No matter which option is chosen, the Knights of Columbus will be prominently showcased as the presenting sponsor through a variety of digital channels and a virtual celebration ceremonies to highlight the partnership to all participants, families and followers of SOMN. Options for competition may include:
– Team bowling competitions at local bowling alleys with online score submission
– Individuals bowling at local bowling alley with online score submission
– A completely virtual option
We are confident that we can offer a meaningful and safe competition experience to our passionate bowling audience, and are excited to have Knights of Columbus join us in celebrating Special Olympics Minnesota Athletes as they participate in the state games! Thank you for your tremendous support.
Please send us your photos and videos showing your “virtual” support for our Athletes. SOMN will include them in a “Celebration Video” to be shown at many locations throughout the State of Minnesota at the end of 2020.
