Box of Joy

Chairman Terry Wagner Community Programs

Box of Joy Program – Make Sure Your Council is Signed Up!

“For Children Who Wish for Just One Gift.”

Many children around the world come from families who cannot afford a single Christmas present. Your Council can change that by providing shoebox-sized Christmas presents for some of the world’s poorest children, many of whom have never received a Christmas present before.

All Councils participating in our BOX of JOY program are reminded to fill as many boxes as possible in the next several weeks. They need to be boxed and dropped off in the 1st 2 weeks of November!

Here is a short video describing the program …

Suggested Items: Each Box of Joy is for either a boy or girl ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. A detailed list of suggested items, as well as items not to pack, can be found in the documents list here. Examples to pack include small stuffed animals, school supplies, hygiene items, clothing and accessories. A dollar store or 5 Below are great places to shop for items.

Box of Joy Collection Week: Currently we plan Box of Joy Collection Week as November 16th to November 19th . All Boxes of Joy must be taken to a Drop-Off Center (locations to be determined) no later than November 19th. The boxes will be shipped to Cross Catholic Outreach in Florida, where they will be inspected, receive a rosary and The Story of Jesus, and readied for shipping. As explained in the materials, it is requested that each box be accompanied by $9 to help defray the shipping and processing costs, but this is entirely optional.

Drop-Off Centers:  If your Council is interested in serving as a Drop-Off Center, please contact the chairman and he can help you get set up.

Can’t conduct an actual packing event this year? No issue! Take advantage of “Create-a-Box Online” at:  https://crosscatholic.org/box-of-joy/create-a-box/
