Leave no Parishioner Behind

We suggest that every Council Grand Knight contacts the Pastor and offers the help of your council to check on parishioners and invite them back to church … even offer to help with transportation if they need it. Report back to the parish office/pastor with any results such as “died”, “moved away”, etc. to help with their parish records.

When you make these calls to parishioners, please tell your members to mention that you are from the Knights, but please do not “Push” membership. Perhaps mention that new members can join free for a year, but make this the last item on the list, not the first. The important point here is service to the parish, not recruiting!

Here is a suggested script:

Hello, I’m ________ _________ the ______________ for the Knights of Columbus here at ___________, and I have been asked by Fr. _____________ to call on Parishioners to see how they are doing.

First of all, I just wanted to check to see if everything was going okay for you personally and for your family?

Do you need any help with groceries or anything like that?

As the pandemic is starting to “wind down”, Father would like parishioners who have not been attending mass, to consider starting regular attendance again.

We are very careful to follow the state and local guidelines for everyone’s health and safety. (Add here any specific details about what is happening at the parish)

Finally, I just wanted to let you know that we currently have a program where new members can join the Knights at no cost for the first year of membership. Details can be found on the website KofC.org.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to seeing you at Mass.
