Latest information about Blessed Michael McGivney
(Addressed specifically to State Chairmen of the Blessed Michael McGivney Guild, but of interest to all)
Thank you for all you are doing. Your prayers and work are making a difference in this historic moment for the Knights of Columbus. Here are some points to keep in mind going forward:
- As you know, Father McGivney will be beatified on Oct. 31, 2020, at Hartford’s Cathedral of St. Joseph. Due to Connecticut’s current COVID restrictions on indoor gatherings, very few from outside of Connecticut will be able to attend.
- Although this situation is regrettable, the good news is that the Beatification Mass will be broadcast live on EWTN and other Catholic networks. So anyone who wishes to view the Mass will be able to do so.
- As State Guild chairman, you are asked to make a special effort to spread the news about the beatification to your councils, parishes and communities. Please work with your State Deputy and media outreach team to get the word out to local media as well.
- Please conduct a special “Blessed Michael McGivney” membership drive for the Guild among your councils. Membership is free, and Guild members receive a quarterly newsletter and have their intentions remembered at a weekly Mass! Send out this link for people to sign up: https://www.fathermcgivney.org/en/join-the-guild.html
- Promote the next two YouTube/Facebook screenings of the new Father McGivney video, on Sept. 26 and Oct. 25, both at 8 pm Eastern. Use the link above for more information.
- Encourage all councils to pray the Prayer for the Canonization of Father McGivney. It is very important that all Knights pray this prayer and report any favors received to the Guild. We need one more miracle for our founder to reach canonization and sainthood, so you will play an even more important role in that process.
- The Communications team at the Supreme Council headquarters will be contacting you about ways you can help promote the message of Father McGivney and his beatification in the days ahead. Please make sure you check your email regularly for this purpose.
- If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally.
Thank you again. Vivat Jesus!
