Ricardo AcevedoKC Ultrasound Initiative update,
By: Ricardo Acevedo, State Deputy

The initiative, sponsored by the Order, offers matching funds for the purchase of an ultrasound machine to be given to a pro-life clinic.  Actual stories in the Columbia and available on the web at www.kofc.org prove that mother’s who actually “see” their unborn child within the womb have changed their minds and kept their precious gift rather than have an abortion.

These machines  come with a heavy cost, often  $25,000 - $30,000 or more. Your donation of $2.00 per year in the Pro-Life per Capita gives Supreme a fund in which we, as members, can share the cost of a machine.

During the State Deputy June meeting  I learned that several of my peers have arranged to acquire machines at cost. By networking we can actually lower the cost of a machine to $14,000. Now we are dealing with a realistic cost.If an organization or council can raise $7500 then via the Supreme matching fund program we can purchase an ultrasound machine.

I’d like to see 5 machines placed in the state, wouldn’t you? That would mean we, as a state wide group, need to raise $37,500 (5x$7500). If every Council would generate $125-$150 (times almost 300 Councils) that’s all that it would take.  What is a life worth, I’m sure you will agree with me that it’s worth a lot more than $150.  It’s time to put our efforts behind a worthy cause like this. If you wish to donate directly to a state wide fund for ultrasound machines, just send your $150 (or more) to MN State Council.
